Shadow Dam Vegetation Maintenance Day
Saturday, May 3rd, 12:00 Noon
(Weather Permitting)
As owners of Shadow Dam, we want to do our best to maintain its stability and longevity.
Last summer, the GFA hired a firm to inspect the dam and make recommendations. One recommendation was to remove vegetation on both sides of the dam to allow for periodic inspections for seepage and/or erosion.
Last fall the Shadow Dam Committee, with much appreciated help from members, spent some time at the dam and started the process of removing the unwanted vegetation. While we put a dent into it, there is still a long way to go.
The committee is again asking for any volunteers who may be visiting the Flow on Saturday May 3rd to pitch in and help continue with the work. Bring chainsaws, brush saws, loppers, etc.
We don’t need, or want to remove the roots, just trim back the vegetation to as close to the ground as possible.
Thanks to all who can help, and as always, Safety will be a priority!
